Exclusive: DJ Jazzy Jeff details why he’s working with the “Families For Excellent Schools”-hosted rally that is slated to take place in Brooklyn, New York.

DJ Jazzy Jeff is set to appear at the “Stand for School Equality” rally in Brooklyn, New York tomorrow (October 7), according to a press release.

Hosted by “Families For Excellent Schools,” the event is set to take place at 9 am EST at Cadman Plaza and is seeking an end to what organizers say are New York City’s separate and unequal schools.

“Each and every child deserves access to a great education,” DJ Jazzy Jeff says in an exclusive statement to HipHopDX. “I’m standing with FES on Wednesday to support the equality of all schools. By creating an education system where every child has the opportunities and tools they need to succeed we can help fully prepare the next generation of great leaders and creatives.”

DJ Jazzy Jeff is slated to perform at the event tomorrow. Jennifer Hudson is also slated to headline and perform at the rally, which is also set to feature Aloe Blacc as a guest speaker.

Parent and student speakers, student performers, elected officials and community leaders are expected to address the rally. They will then march across the Brooklyn bridge to City Hall in Manhattan, where they will ask for a revamp of New York’s educational system.

A post-rally press conference with Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. is also scheduled to take place tomorrow at 11:45 am EST at the steps at New York City Hall.

Organizers anticipate 15,000 parents, students and educators will appear at the rally.
